For your convenience, a Keurig and microwave are available in the Jury Assembly Room. You may bring lunch and/or snacks when reporting for jury service. To make your service as comfortable as possible, the Jury Assembly Room includes access to the following features:

• Vending machines

The dress code for Court is general business attire. Please do not wear tank tops, halter tops, shorts, or flip flops. Courtrooms are air conditioned. For your comfort you may wish to bring a sweater or light jacket. You may also want to bring an umbrella in case of rain.

According to Florida Statutes, if your employer does not continue to pay your regular wages or you are not employed, or are self-employed, then you are entitled to receive payment in the amount of $15.00 per day for the first three days of jury service and $30.00 per day for the fourth day of service and each day thereafter, regardless of employment status. A juror who receives unemployment benefits does not lose such benefits because he receives compensation for juror service.

You may use your electronic devices in the jury assembly room on silent mode while you wait prior to the start of Court. Please note however that electronic devices will be removed from all members of a jury panel before jury deliberations begin and can be removed at other stages of a trial as directed by the presiding judge.

To be qualified for jury duty you must be a United States Citizen at least 18 years of age, a Hernando County resident, and possess a Florida Driver’s License or ID card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV). Jury lists are pulled from the Florida DHSMV database.

The parking lot is located east of the main entrance. There is overflow parking on the West side of Main Street Eatery in the large Truist lot. Additional parking on city streets is permissible, however please make note of parking time restraints.

• Handcuffs/handcuff keys or any other restraining devices

• Metal nail files
• Oversized belt buckles
• Pepper spray
• Razors
• Scissors
• Tape measures
• Tools

Jurors are on call for the entire week until notified otherwise via the website or recorded juror information line. Please remember to check one of these notification systems every evening after 5:15 pm the entire week you are on call.  Should you be called in to serve, the length of service for a juror shall not exceed one day unless the juror is assigned to or impaneled on a trial or unless the court orders otherwise.
